Libertine’s shows are not for wallflowers. Spotted today was a piece from an early silk-screen collection, a bedazzled tie-dyed hoodie, and print dresses along ’30s garden party lines, among other look-at-me pieces. For all of the meticulousness and craftsmanship of Libertine pieces, they carry a sunniness and funniness that seems inherently Cali to this East Coast viewer. The designers adherence to a West Coast Americana is a point of difference among his fellow maximalists.
